Highlights of Oxford Drupal Camp

I learnt a lot at the recent Drupal & Education Camp and thought I'd share a few highlights here. Professor David Upton of the Saïd Business School delivered an excellent keynote. There's many years' experience here in analysing big project roll-outs - and what David had to say about the challenges of sensible, incremental software building (for success) against the backdrop of organisational pressures to deliver extravagant, big-bang roll-outs (which usually fail) was insightful as well as entertaining. Catch up on David's talk here.

Keeping with successful project management techniques, Edward Kay's session on Drupal project management from the front line was also well worth attending. An open, informative take on how one company approaches agile development, realistic costing and quality control - there was much here to agree with and learn from. Edward's talk is also available online here.

Other notable sessions included this one by Martin Bush from London South Bank University. He talked about a useful SaaS quizzing tool aimed at the HE sector. It offers a simple way of getting your existing PowerPoint quizzes online in double-quick time. Would make a really interesting distribution too that might benefit many universities.

Everyone's talking about the Semantic web, Google & Panda so I went along to Philipp Schaffner's talk on Drupal 7 Semantizer. This was an interesting (and challenging!) session on how Drupal is moving forward with microdata projects and formats. I don't think Philpp's talk is online but you can download the slides here.

Thanks again to everyone @OxDUG for putting on the excellent event.
